Welcome to GCAD

The Marathwada Region has a very rich and glorious background of Art and literature dating back to the golden age of the Gupta Empire. Marathwada can very rightly be called the land of Art culture, proudly possessing world-famous monuments like Ajanta and Ellora.

It was here that the great saint Dnyaneshwar was inspired to write his commentary on the Bhagwat Geeta, known as the Dnyaneshwari. Considering this profound history and the region's natural beauty, the Government of Maharashtra decided to establish an Arts College in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar to facilitate the art students of the region and preserve this cultural heritage for the future.

Our Artistic Voyage

On 13th August 1971, the idea of preserving our artistic legacy turned into reality. The college began its artistic voyage with just 42 students and a small number of dedicated art teachers.

Today, the institute has grown into a full-fledged Art College. Over the last four decades, numerous students and faculty members have been honored with prestigious awards in state, national, and international level exhibitions. Today, GCAD is forging ahead with its short but prosperous background, fully committed to its educational mission.
